What You Need to Know

Primary Election Voter Registration Deadline is June 16th, 2020.
Primary Election Vote-By-Mail Ballot Deadline is 7 days before the primary election.
All applications have to be printed and filled out. There’s no online application.
Mail or deliver the Voter Registration Application and/or Party Affiliation Form to the County Commissioner of Registration or Superintendent of Elections for your county.
The Primary Election will take place on July 7, 2020.
NJ is a closed primary election state, meaning only voters affiliated with a party can vote in the primary election to select the party’s nominee for US President. Independent or Unaffiliated voters can temporarily choose a party if they would like to vote in the Primary Election (They can change back to Independent after the Primary Election. A voter may apply for a Mail-In Ballot by mail up to 7 days prior to the election. He or she may also apply in person to the County Clerk prior to 8 P.M. the day of the election.
